Mr Jimi Lawal, who was sacked from his position as the Special Adviser to the Kaduna State Governor on Investment is now Malam Nasir el-Rufai’s counselor, an official has said.
el-Rrufai had appointed one Murtala as SA on Economics and Mukhtar Dabo (Alh Mukhtar Mohammed Monrovia) as SA investment, an office Mr Jimi Lawal has been occupying since the appointment of the first set of advisers.
Clarifying issues surrounding Jimi Lawal’s removal as investment advisor, Special Assistant to Kaduna State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan said Lawal is now el-Rufai’s counselor.
“Mr. Jimi Lawal is the Senior Adviser/ Counselor to Malam Nasir El-Rufai, a position in which he remains a trusted confidante to the Governor,” Aruwan said in a statement posted on his Facebook wall.
According to Aruwan, “That has been his designation for months, a promotion into a more senior role consistent with the governor’s confidence in him.”
Elanza News can recall that el-Rufai’s government is just about four months old, and the appointment of Mukhtar to replace Lawal as Special Adviser on Investment was made last week. Reacting to Aruwan’s statement, a political analyst, Nura Usman, said Kaduna State Government is in a dilemma.
“They are afraid to tell Jimi Lawal that “you are fired,” and they know nothing will be possible in terms of investment promotion in Kaduna State so long as he (Jimi) is in charge. So they decided to do tactical maneuver by saying he has been elevated from Senior Special Adviser on investment promotion to Special Adviser/Counselor. We (The masses) are winning and will not relent until things are done the right way,” Usman added.
