Killings still persist in Southern Kaduna

21 people have been reportedly killed in two different attacks in Kaura and Jema’a Local government areas of Kaduna state, authorities have confirmed.

At about 6am this morning, (Monday) an attack was carried out by suspected Fulani Herdsmen at Mifi and Ashim towns in Attakar Chiefdom of Kaura LGA with not less than 14 local farmers killed.

Also, in Bakin Kogi, Kaninkong Chiefdom in Jema’a Local government area of Kaduna state, residents say about 7 persons have been found death following yesterday’s attack by suspected Fulani Herdsmen militia.

Elanza News gathered that several people have been wounded while many have run for their life in most of the communities that were attacked.

It was also gathered that two security agents were also killed in the attack on Bakin Kogi in Jema’a LGA which was said to have been carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen militia on Sunday.

The Chairman of Kaura local government area of Kaduna State, Mr. Alex Iya confirmed that 14 people were killed in two communities of Mifi and Ashim by gunmen suspected to be Herdsmen on Monday.

The lawmaker, representing Kaura constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Dr. Yakubu Bityong further confirmed to LEADERSHIP that the attackers had killed and destroyed many homes before the arrival of the security operatives.

Bityong said Chayuwai Manti 73, Ezikiel Kanwai 23, Bridget Aba 61, Bridget Samaila 42, Samaila Kuzamam 47, Mathew Daniel 37, Edward Mathew 10, Omega Mathew 8, Adam Niga 46, Moses Ndong, 68, Likita Adam 12, Musa John 13, Mboi Waje 14 and Fidelix Kakah were all killed.

The Chairman of Jema’a LGA, Hon Bege Katuka Hunble could not be reach but the Secretary of Tum Nikyop, Kaninkong Chiefdom, Lucky Jacob confirmed to Elanza News that 8 people including two Police men were killed while several houses were destroyed in the Bakin Kogi attacks.

The police in Kaduna is yet to issue an official statement concerning the attacks. The spokesman for the police in Kaduna, Usman Aliyu, could not be reached as at the time of filling this report.
