The 24-hour curfew imposed in Kafanchan metropolis by the Interim management Committee Chairman of Jema’a Local government Hon. Dr. Bege Katuka, has been slightly relaxed from 6am to 6pm, as death toll from the Godogodo attacks hit 54.
Katakana said until the security situation improves in the Kafanchan metropolis, residents are advised to adhere to the curfew.
Katuka disclosed this to our Kaduna correspondent by a telephone on Tuesday 18th October, 2016.
He said in no distance time, the curfew hours will be reviewed further on recommendations of security agents.
“Residents are advice to co-operate and stay indoors as effort is on to ensure normalcy return to the area,” Bege said.
Meanwhile, 54 people have been reported killed in the herdsmen attack and counter attacks in the Godogodo area of Jema’a LGA of Kaduna state.
While local residents reported that 40 of their people were killed by the herdsmen, a commercial driver claimed that 14 herdsmen who are his passengers were mobbed while the car burnt down.
Vanguard quoted a youth Leader saying that the casualty figures, following the invasion of Godogodo was 40.
The youth leader, who did not want his name mentioned, said: “On Sunday, we were able to get 20 corpses. But after the attackers were chased out this on Monday by security agents, we went into the town and recovered badly burnt corpses. We retrieved corpses that were so badly burnt that you would not know if they were males or females. We now have about 40 dead persons. There could be more, because we are still searching.”
