There is palpable tension in Kwoi, Jaba LGA of Kaduna State as residents run for safety following earthquake threat.
Elanza News gathered that since early hours of Sunday, the entire buildings in the town have been shaking while people who went to Churches for Sunday services had to rushed back to save places because of the earthquake threat.
Jaba LGA Chairman, Mr Ben Kure and the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Hon Ezekiel Baba-Karik both confirmed to Elanza News about the happening in the community.
According to the SEMA boss, some officials of the agency have been sent to the area for assessment and possible evacuation of the people in danger areas.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) told Elanza News that their assessment team are on red alert concerning the current happening at Kwoi.
Elanza News reports that Kaduna and indeed Nigeria have no serious cases of natural disaster but the present happening in Kwoi surprised many experts.
“Since morning, many people in our villages have been running up and down because both buildings and the ground have been shaking. Many churches had to cut short their programmes because of the earthquake threat. As I am speaking with you, the ground is still shaking,” Hon Badugu Nehemiah said.
